Evans Family on Mission in Thailand

Dear Friends,

Greetings in the Name of the God Most High. As we recently attended the Annual mission organisation conference, we heard teaching on how even the most powerful king of his day (Nebuchadnezzar), praised, extolled, and honored the King of Heaven (Dan.4:37). However, this powerful king firstly needed to be humbled for his pride and arrogance in seeking his own glory. Brothers and sisters, whether you hold a high position or not, be quick to humble yourselves before God AND others, lest you fall. Praise God that His mercy and patience provide us with an opportunity to repent.

Praise Points

  • Up to 6 new believers from Huay Salop will be baptized on Monday.
  • About 80 Shan believers (including Children) from about 6 villages were greatly encouraged at the recent Shan Believers Conference in Mae Hong Son.
  • Our family has settled here in Mae Hong Son and is building relationships with the local people.
  • Several new families have joined with the Mekong Field, and are undertaking language and cultural studies, in preparation to take the Gospel to the unreached peoples of SE Asia.

Prayer Needs

  • Strong leadership to develop amongst the Shan churches.
  • Andrew (my team leader), Lee and Toi (from his village) as they go to Burma for 2 weeks to do leadership training with Shan Christians.
  • Our 4 youngest children as they go to Thai school for 3, half days a week, for language acquisition and to make friends. We are trialing this for 1 month. Sarah, the 2 eldest girls and myself will also help at the school with some English teaching.
  • Continued grace in language learning (This is not a short process!).
  • That the Lord would prepare my heart and yours as I come back in July to share about our call to the Shan people here in Mae Hong Son.

Special Note

Thanks to all who have contacted Pastors and others on my behalf re speaking opportunities. I still have times available on several Sundays, which I am keen to fill. Again, our heartfelt appreciation goes to all you who have faithfully (or at least occasionally) prayed, sent correspondence, and given of your finances. It may seem hard for you to fully realize that you are in fact a real part of what God has called us to, and it is His work for His glory. We have no doubt that Shan people will come to Christ as a result of your participation and partnership with us.

Your brother in Christ
