Evans Family on Mission in ThailandDear Friends, Greetings in Jesus name. As most of you would already know we are now living in a house in Mae Hong Son, which is located in the North Western border region of Thailand/Burma. After living on the ground floor of the local Shan church for five weeks we were finally able to move into the house that the Lord had prepared for us. We have no doubt that this is where the Lord has placed us and anticipate opening our home as a place of ministry to the local people. We now can clearly see how the Lord had prepared our time at the church to build relationships with several of our fellow workers in Christ. God had specially prepared this time for the whole family particularly the two eldest girls who now have several good friends from the girls hostel adjoining the church. Thankyou for praying with us through this time. The Lord has already given us some important contacts here and I have a language helper who is turning out to be an excellent assistant for me in my language acquisition. I mentioned in our last newsletter that there are good things happening in the village of Huay Salop. We continue to give thanks to the Lord as there is now a regular fellowship attendance of about 12 adults and 20 children. They all come together to worship and hear the word of the Lord. Even though some of these have not yet confessed Christ, most have and are actively involved in discipleship. News of conversions in this village has reached at least one other village where several families have expressed their desire to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Missionary friends of ours in a village nearby have responded and have sent workers to share with these families. Please join with us both in rejoicing and praying that many captives will be released from Satans grip amongst the villagers. Even though our friends O and Meela have left the village of Namgat, Bobby and Namatah continue to visit this village on a bi-weekly basis. As they are currently back in the States for a short trip we are able to assist them by teaching and interacting with about 20 children from the village (along with Doi from our team leaders village Napajat). There are currently no adult believers in Namgat so we are praying that God will break through as a result of previous seeds that have been sown and from the current Sunday school ministry. I will be coming back to Australia in July (dates will be forwarded when confirmed). My purpose is to share with you in person and Lord willing to expand our prayer and financial base. I would like to specifically meet with Pastors, mission workers and interested people and to share about the Shan work in N.W.Thailand. As I will only be there for about 4 weeks I hope to be able to make appointments during the weekdays as well as sharing at churches on Sundays. Thanks to those that have already contacted me about this visit. If there is anyone else who would like me to visit them please let me know, as this is not meant to be a holiday! Thankyou so much for your faithful support to our family. Your brother and fellow servant in Christ, Dave (for the tribe) David and Sarah Evans |
