Worldwide Evangelization for Christ WEC stands for Worldwide Evangelization for Christ. It was founded by C.T. Studd, a famous cricketer of his day. C.T. was born to wealthy English parents and was educated at Eton and Cambridge. He became known as one of England's greatest athletes. In 1913, after having pioneered the gospel in China with Hudson Taylor, and at the age of 53, Mr. Studd felt God calling him to the 'heart of Africa, and obeyed God's call. His faith and obedience to God resulted in a fellowship of churches in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire) that now numbers about 200,000 believers. Under God he also laid the foundation for the present worldwide ministry of WEC. He believed God was saying to him this was not just for Congo, but for the whole unevangelized world.
